3 Drone sync test over OC Military Test Flight area used by El Toro Marine Airbase, back in the day. Still registered as military test flight area for experimental aircraft.
I saw a drone rise in the morning sun from a dark ravine in RSM. Looked like a 35gal aluminum trashcan corrugated vertically, with a smaller 15gal or so can wedged into its side. The larger turned counterclockwise slowly as the smaller can turned left and right appearing to look around. The top was covered in gold reflective material I am assuming was the solar collector panel.
The lens on the smaller can was about 6″ in diameter. It was rounder and protruded about 2″.
I watched this through military binoculars.
It was 100meters above my head, out about 5.
The labels were too small to read but it was a man-made manufactured device that was able to hover/hold in place with zero noise or heat. It was a brisk morning so any exhaust would have shown itself.
The operator had no idea I was under him because when the lens tilted down toward my location – it shot away in half a second up and to the right. Out of sight but I could see it get smaller for about about another half second.
Grab a video camera, aim at the sky and let it run.
Playback at double speed and remove haze, then you tell me what you see.
